Since 2016, our Comprehensive Addiction Recovery Program (CARP) has helped hundreds of patients achieve success on their recovery journey. Our outpatient program is offered at the Kanawha City Health Center, Sissonville Health Center, Dawes Health Center, and Clendenin Health Center.

We utilize Suboxone, an FDA-approved medication that reduces cravings and feelings of “dope sickness” for opioid-dependent individuals.

How We’re Different

Our program is run by Cabin Creek Health Systems, a nonprofit whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of all people in our communities, especially the most vulnerable. We are guided by the latest science and compassion, not stigma and bottom lines. We take nearly all kinds of insurances, including Medicaid and Medicare and also offer a sliding scale fee.

We believe in our patients — we wouldn’t be doing this work if we didn’t. We believe our patients are capable of great healing, and we witness remarkable stories of courage and grace everyday.

Our program is about more than just the medicine. We help you look to what drives your addiction and help you develop smarter coping mechanisms to help you stay on track. You’ll be paired with a highly qualified therapist who you will see you twice a month to help support your progress. For the first 90 days, our patients also participate in 4 AA/NA community meetings a week.

WVU Treatment Model

Our program is guided by West Virginia University’s Comprehensive Opioid Addiction Treatment (COAT) model. The model has proven successful in combining robust therapy and step work along with medicine. WVU’s Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry developed this model over 14 years and has now treated over 2,000 patients. Our care team consults with WVU experts every month to ensure our program is making the biggest impact.
